Memorial Grave Blankets                                        Pick up date is 12-7 and 12-8 at our Cottleville location just off Mid Rivers Mall Dr. We will not have these available at our St Charles location on Main Street for pick up at this time.  

At The Potted Plant, we take great pride and care in making grave blankets for your loved ones. Each grave blanket is made by hand using only the freshest evergreen boughs of silver fir, noble fir, frasier fir, and western cedar decorated with a mixed green center piece with pine cones and berries. While we feel this is a beautiful blanket on its own, we can personalize with bows and fresh florals upon request. (additional cost is based on personalization requested) 

What is a grave blanket?

A grave blanket is a floral display consisting of woven evergreen boughs that covers an entire grave ( or a grave pillow which is placed at the base of the headstone) These displays are popular in northern climates, and they are often placed on graves before the first snow as a symbolic way of keeping deceased loved ones warm. No one truly knows how the tradition started, but the belief is the tradition was brought over from the Scandanvians that settled in the upper midwest.

Our grave coverings are made the same way as the Pillow only  the are larger (3' x 6') and have  additional greens.  Sizes are approximate as these are all individual made by hand here at The Potted Pnant.
